A Day in the Life of a Client at Accord
At Accord, clients follow a structured, yet personalized daily routine designed to promote both mental and metabolic wellness. Mornings begin around 7 a.m., when clients are encouraged to get outside for sunlight exposure, which helps align their circadian rhythm, supports healthy sleep-wake cycles, enhances mental health, and boosts Vitamin D levels. After this, clients are free to develop their own morning routine, which often includes check-ins with staff, journaling, sitting by the beautiful Spy Pond, or going for a walk. These activities set a mindful tone for the day, allowing each client to feel grounded before engaging in the program’s structured components.
Clients then collaborate with Accord’s registered dietitian to prepare breakfast. The focus on client-led meal prep reflects the program’s goal of sustainability—clients learn essential skills to maintain their routines and dietary habits upon returning home. The meals align with the ketogenic diet, a core aspect of Accord’s metabolic health program, designed to support both physical and mental well-being.
Following breakfast, clients dive into the day’s group schedule. As part of the Metabolic Residential Program, these psychoeducational groups cover a variety of essential topics, such as the link between diet and mental health, the importance of exercise and movement, circadian rhythm alignment, and the benefits of mindfulness. Additionally, clients engage in experiential activities like cooking, grocery shopping, and dining out. Throughout the day, clients meet one-on-one with various members of their care team, participating in the metabolic intervention program. They work closely with the program dietitian to understand the ketogenic diet and create individualized meal plans. Regular sessions with a personal trainer help clients develop sustainable exercise routines, focusing on both strength and cardiovascular training for optimal metabolic health. Walking after meals is encouraged as a key metabolic intervention to improve overall well-being.
